To expand on what Bruce has already told you, those windows are actuated by a combination gear rack and sciccors-jack type regulator arrangement similar to the way the windows operate in an automobile door. A removable crank was necessary to operate them. There is a box of sorts below the window opening that contains both the regulator and the glass when fully rolled down. These boxes are disguised in the case of the private promenade decks, being hidden behind the interior stucco and half-timber walls. They are visible on the public promenades. H&W photos of Olympic's B deck promenades show them very well. The smaller rectangular windows used in the remainder of B deck's exterior are of a similar type.
