Thanks once again Bob, Ralph and Bill. That's a great photograph Ralph. I have seen it once before but I was unable to find it again. In fact I'd been searching all over for it yesterday.
These certainly seem like telephones, probably manufactured by A. Graham & Co as the link suggests. That's a good starting point at least.
I'm not sure about those two protrusions being hinges though. When you view the object square on from the side, they seem to stick out too far. This is especially noticeable in the image of the one on the bridge of the Lucania. Also, notice that little cylindrical object under the storm rail just below the phone. A similar object can be seen in the oceanic photograph. I wonder if this is a traditional speaking tube?
