Hi Jerry,

There's an excellent article on the floating dock in the June 2013 issue of 'Marine Modelling International'. This can be read online at http://www.ctje.nl/dl/Books/Marine%20Modelling%20International/Marine%20Modelling%20201306.pdf (the article begins on page 10).

The author mentions that the capacity of the dock was reduced to 54000 tons in 1947 and again to 48000 in 1979. No reason is given for the reduction. The triangular end platforms were apparently removed shortly after the Admiralty took possession. I don't know what other modifications were made in later years.
