Rather than the holes in the deck in which the rigging threads/runs through.......
I notice that there are some Eyebolts/Turnbuckles available in 1/350, but for military ships.
Are these not suitable to the era? or not suitable for another reason?
I can't seem to find the appropriate fitting in 1/350 for the Titanic?
What do you seasoned modellers do? Just use the holes prepared in the deck(s)?
Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Barry,

do you have a link to the page showing these? My inclination would be that given their small size in scale, any departure from accuracy wouldn't be noticed.

The funnel shrouds, by the way, didn't have turnbuckles where they secured to the deck. They used a hemp lanyard that allowed tightening and slackening more readily than a turnbuckle.

If you have TTSM v1, there are line drawings of period turnbuckles on pp 257 and 259, and an image of the base of the funnel shrouds on p 266.

Hi Art,

Thanks for posting - this is a link to GMM.

http://www.goldmm.com/ships/gms350-37M.htm

This set shown is for HMS Hood. Note in the description below the picture it mentions: -

"Extra turnbuckles, eyebolts, & handwheels are provided for custom work"

Perhaps you would cast your professional eye over the parts and see if you can locate the said items!!
Maybe I am going in completely the wrong direction and these Turnbuckles and Eyebolts are nothing like what is needed!!

You can but try!

Kind regards,

Barry Morton

Hi,

Here is a link to Alliance Model Works set of rigging sets.

http://www.freetimehobbies.com/1350alliancemodelworkspulleysandriggingsformastsandyardarms.aspx

I have not yet tried to 'make these up'. Not really sure how to 'roll' the turnbuckles.

Also, L'Arsenal has eye bolts for rigging, hand wheels, and bitts.

I get mine from Tony Bunch.

I notice that the photo on the cover of the new 1/350 Minicraft box (Model built by Morten Jensen I believe) seems to show some kind of eyebolt perhaps, at the rigging/deck point?

(Will try to post some photos of it soon.)

Either way, it's a very neat job where the all the rigging meets the deck.

What's the secret...hoping Morten will see this!

Regards,

Barry
