I am trying to figure out which parts of the crew and other rooms in the bow used for flooring. I know on c deck below the forecastle they used wood. I know that they used tile next to the firemens spiral staircases and in the third class open space. But what about all of the cabins where the firemen slept. Along with the halls.

Thanks,

Brady Guzik

Hi Brady,

The interior finishing is not really my area of interest, but I'll take a stab at this. Wood was used on C-deck in the windlass space (teak) and in the corridors leading aft (pitch pine). The flooring in the crew's quarters was coloured Litosilo only.

'Titanic: The Ship Magnificent' volume 1 chapter 8 has a good deal of further info on deck coverings.

Regards,
Ralph
