#9222, "New user - Critique"

Hi I'm Dan.

I'm new to this forum. I have been a model maker for around 25 years and have always built aircraft and armour. Recently I'd grown a little tired of the subject matter so fancied a change.

I've always been fascinated with the story of RMS Titanic and, as we just moved to a Victorian house, I thought I'd build a large scale model of her to compliment the house.

After some research I chose the Academy 1/400 kit and also purchase Eduards etch set to go with it.

Anyway, here's a few pictures of my build so far. All critique is welcome as ship modelling is very to me. I'm mostly concerned about the rigging!

If you're interested, I have a YouTube Channel where here is a video of the fist part of this build. You can get to it here - http://www.youtube.com/c/DanDondeModelling

Hi Dan, Welcome aboard TRMA.

Your build is off to a great start. Paint skills and color selection are spot on. Excellent placement of the etched railings on the forecastle. Will be a nice addition to the new house.

One question. What is going on with the anchor chains standing at that angle?

Keep up to good work and post photos of your progress.

I'll post some rigging information for you a little later.

Thank you for your kind words.

I'll be posting updates as they happen. We have a baby due (number 5) so may be a while.

The chains are only in situ and not yet fixed. I'd forgotten they were there when I took the picture!

I look forward to posting updates and the work on this site is certainly a massive inspiration.

Thanks again.

I love the colour on your decking. The variation in colour looks fantastic. I look forward to seeing future progress. One small change you should make is the triangular grating by the front railing. The grating should be black instead of white.

Regards, Ryan

That's very kind, thank you. I had seen it black in some references and on others models but wasn't sure. Thank you.
