Happy New Year 2017 to all of you !!!

This is my "nearly completed" model was a diorama of Titanic depicted after leaving Queenstown April 11, 1912 at 20 Knots... My Titanic was 1/350 scale minicraft model. I used both TMM and GMM PE, many scratchbuild parts, PE Passengers, Flytying Thread for the rigging, I mixed all of the paints (using Acrylic water-based paints) like the WSB, deck color and etc, large surfaces are painted with spray can. I have studied all of the references i could find.. and I applied many newly found evidences for accuracy such as Hexagons boxes to store the Emergency Cutters falls, and many more.. The water was made a kind of plaster from materials available around me.. Please Enjoy!

Best Regards,
Elang

Hi Elang

That looks fantastic. The water and wake is great. Loads of extra picked out details and the passengers really set it off.

Hi Elang,

this is very impressive and highly detailed, the details of the ship (windows, etc.), the water and passengers look very good.

Elang. I've said this often but I'll say it again. Your model is such a pleasure for the eyes to look at. Model is highly detailed and the water looks realistic. Just like Dave said, it's a model you surely can be proud of.

Thanks everyone for the kind comments
for the seascape color, at first i used light blue.. but later i changed the color to deep dark blue color for the North Atlantic water.. and the wakes are based upon Olympic's wakes from aerial photographs.. here some of different angles (the last picture is the light blue water)

Best Regards,
Elang

Just outstanding work! I really love the result of your white star buff color. That must be one of the best color mixes.

Elang -

Well, when you base your color on Ken Marshall and Art's fantastic work you can not get it wrong I am about to start on my own funnels, and I will try my own mix one more time. It will be interesting to compare my color to your pictures.

Thank you Morten and Livio,

Livio, I have a dream to build a realistic model depicting titanic on its maiden voyage as it is, with dirt, rust, crowds, and many unsymmetrical elements. and i know not everyone agree about this idea and prefer to do such a builders model type. And for Morten,i really looking forward to your funnels update! with correct buff colors and your amazing skills it would be great!

Elang,

I apologize for not commenting on your model sooner. Your work is very clean and you've done an excellent job on your paint work. Your water is outstanding! One of the few I've seen that's very realistic. (And it's nice to see another waterline model, since so very few people do them.)

You've obviously a lot of time on modeling the water, so you might find this article interesting for any future waterline models you build.

Art,

Thank you for your kind comment.. I really need your opinion to my model.. I have questions Art, how did you make the folded deck chair? are there any tutorial on it? I want to add them on my model.. Also if you have any critics to my model, let me know.. If i would, I will correct it

Let me say again that overall your model really is very good. You have added many details that others don't. The only things that might be improved on for your next model is the window color, which would probably look better if it were a darker red (like mahogany); the nosing (trim) along the edges of the deckhouse roofs, which was most likely brown; and if you could find some finer thread to use for the rigging, it would make it stand out less. But those are only suggestions to improve on what you already have.

And by the way, your funnel color is PERFECT. Nicely done.

Art

Thanks again Art, it such a honor to me being criticized by the best 1/350 modeler ever.. Yes it seems a bit lighter red.. The rigging are the one you recommend.. it was 8/0 flytying thread by unithread.. cant find any finer than that... For the color of the funnels, yes I looks and studied your funnels color and many of Ken Marschall's paintings and mixed the paint (waterbased acrylics paint) to closely match them.. Glad you like it... Art, my question about folded deckchairs you haven't answer it...

Regards,
Elang

As to your rigging, then it's probably just the light reflecting off it that make it appear larger.

As to deck chairs, please post that question on the main forum

Elang,

you asked for more comments from me, but it would be over-critical to point out anything beyond the suggestions I've noted. Anything that shows your model to be a model (and not a real ship) once you get close up beyond a certain point, is only a matter of improving your technique with all the various aspects of building a model like this. If you were to build this same model again, it would come out even better and you'd see that it would look even "cleaner" up close in many ways.

Below you can see how good your model looks once you put it in the format of a period photograph. Here's an underexposed shot of your ship sailing into the sunset. At a quick glance, many people wouldn't realize they're not seeing the real thing.

Art,

I really appreciate your kind advice and compliments.. we have a same idea.. I want to make a model represent the ship as it is.. as people saw it in real life.. The image showing the stern sailing away was always be my favorite.. Love the B/W version you make.. here another touched images from me.. what do you think?
