How to Help

Home

This page a work in progress. There are many additions and changes to come soon. Please check back with us on a regular basis. The same goes for the official SOS Nomadic site. We will soon be posting information on how you can help save this lasting piece of Titanic history. Stay Tuned...

The SS Nomadic is one of a handful of true historic ships left in the world today. Purpose built by Harland and Wolff to serve the great liners of the Olympic class, she was one of the last ships to see Titanic alive and she survives today as the only ship remaining out of the entire White Star Line fleet. Sadly, her future existence is not bright at all despite being saved from the scrap yard in 2006. After 3 years of neglect, she sits slowly rotting away in her dry dock and plans for her are now based more around a corporate style attraction with no feel for her enormous historical significance. On top of this, the whole project is being enveloped in a shroud of secrecy that hides all manner of manipulation which has more to do with personal interests than it does to the welfare and success of the ship.

SOS Nomadic has therefore been set up to remove this shroud and to expose the truth of this project in an open, honest and transparent way. With a combined total of over 5 years experience with the SS Nomadic, it is our fervent wish to see this ship fully and authentically restored to operational condition. This is a reality that can be achieved according to professional opinion as well as our own. As the TRMA are the world’s leading research organisation into not only Titanic and the White Star Line but also of many of the world’s greatest liners, we hope that by the telling of Nomadic’s plight here, we will raise her profile once more and engage in discussion on how her future can be changed through exchanges of information on a global scale. We hope that this resource of information will ultimately result in the Nomadic feeling the lifeblood of steam flowing through her and the stretching of her ‘legs’ in the open water again after over 40 years.
